HW 28: Your impression of Ancient Rome due Wed Jan 7 (2015!!)
Spend at a total of 40 minutes looking at information on ancient Rome (this spans Rome's earliest beginnings to its height as an empire).
After you have completed your 40 minutes of looking at info (aka research!)...write a paragraph of 5- 8 sentences that clearly expresses and explains what is now YOUR IMPRESSION (MAIN THOUGHT) OF ANCIENT ROME.
You can look through your textbooks (chapter 6 in both NEW and OLD), do some googling, youtubing, watch a movie, or even go to a library (do they still exist?) or a museum-----THAT IS UP TO YOU. (And if you go over 40 minutes--THAT IS YOUR DECISION!!)
*Jot down your thoughts....and some facts....if necessary to help you remember them.*
TIPS: Gather your ideas and come up with your MAIN THOUGHT about ancient Rome in ONE SENTENCE--this is your "thesis statement" or main idea of your paragraph. All of your following sentences should give support to your MAIN IDEA, and should be both descriptive and analytical. Use EVIDENCE (facts about ancient Rome) to provide the description, and YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE EVIDENCE to provide the analysis. And keep in mind that your description and analysis are both proving your main idea!
